Ojiugo Women Association (OWA) aka Professional African Women Association (PAWA) started as a brain child of the current President (Erica Otiono). She introduced the idea to four ladies, Theresa Nwabeke, Magggie Ononiwu, Teresa Ezekwo and Anietie Chizea at the Capitol Lawn, Sacramento, CA. They welcomed the idea but with skepticism. After a few subsequent discussions, they all agreed to move forward. We then invited others to meetings to hear about the concept, come up with a name and our goals. We did. OWA was agreed on and adopted on May 14, 2017.
